Butterfly Whispers
Grief, Loss, Hope and Joy
Butterfly Whispers has grown into a deeply heartfelt message for anyone navigating loss. Tragically and poignantly, the illustrator, Davey Villalobos, became a "butterfly" himself before this book was brought to life.
The artwork in Butterfly Whispers holds special significance, as it was lovingly created by Davey Villalobos. In a bittersweet twist of fate, Davey himself became a "butterfly" before the book's release, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and love. His illustrations bring the story to life, carrying forward his memory and the joy he shared through his art.
Butterfly Whispers is more than a story—it's a journey of transformation and hope, designed to remind readers of the beauty that can emerge from even the deepest loss.
“Davey, your light and creativity brought so much beauty into this world. Together, we created stories filled with hope, love, and joy that touched countless hearts. Now, your art lives on, shining brightly in every life you inspired. In heaven, your legacy continues in endless peace and joy with our Father.”

In Loving Memory: A Life Extraordinaire ... It is with a heavy heart and deep gratitude that I share the passing of my beloved cousin, Davey Villalobos, the talented artist behind the Unicorn Jazz series and so many other creative works we brought to life together. His art filled pages with joy, wonder, and imagination, touching the hearts of children and adults alike.
From our first sketches on paper to countless hours refining every color, line, and detail, we shared a vision: to inspire, uplift, and bring light into the world. Davey’s gift was so much more than his talent—it was his spirit, his love for life, and his ability to see beauty in places where others might not.
He will be forever missed, but his art and the joy he brought to so many will live on in the stories we created together.
Rest in peace, Davey. Your light and colors will continue to shine. Deeply saddened by your loss. It was too soon. God be with you. Thank you for giving us Davey. Love you to the moon and back’ Lisa Caprelli
I wrote this book after many requests to address the challenging topic of loss and suffering. It came to me in a dream in April 2024 (I will share more about this Godly timing next week ...) I told my husband, James, about it and initially wanted to dedicate it to his late wife, Beth and then we decided to add many "butterflies ~ lost loved ones' names to the dedication..."
I wanted to create a story that both children and adults could connect with, using an analogy and scripture to help navigate difficult emotions and find comfort and hope.
Colors of Heaven by Lisa Caprelli and Mike Paolucci is a song created with scripture at its heart, designed to reinforce a powerful message of hope, healing, and the eternal joy found in God’s promises. The imagery within the song—unicorns dancing, rainbows, butterflies, and Joy’s tender face—serves as a reminder of the beauty of embracing God’s promises with childlike faith.
Lisa’s intention was to craft lyrics that resonate with the young and young-at-heart, capturing the wonder, trust, and belief in God’s eternal love. The themes of Colors of Heaven—healing, hope, eternal love, and the beauty of heaven—align with several scriptures, offering a spiritual foundation for its uplifting message.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
