In Remembrance of Davey Villalobos
Davey Villalobos was a cherished friend. As my illustrator to all my children’s books - he was also my cousin. Davey brought a fun presence in the lives of everyone who knew him. Whether through his warm smile, generous spirit, or gentle kindness, Davey made a lasting impact on those around him. Though we grieve his absence, we celebrate the memories he left us, knowing his legacy of love and compassion will live on.
Rest in peace, Davey—thank you for touching our hearts in such a profound way.
Colors of Heaven
Lyrics Written by Lisa Caprelli - Music and Composition by Mike Paolucci
Verse 1
In the brush of the rainbow, in the clouds up above,
He painted with kindness, he painted with love.
From the wings of the butterflies to Joy’s tender face,
His art brought a light that no time can erase.
Chorus
Oh, the colors of heaven, where beauty begins,
Where love is eternal and joy never ends.
He’s painting with angels, in skies pure and bright,
Every unicorn’s dancing, in His heavenly light.
Verse 2
Through the pages of stories, where hope found its way,
We brought dreams to children, through night and through day.
Now the stars hold his brush, and his love lingers near,
In the hearts of each story, his spirit is here.
Chorus
Verse 3
Though we miss you down here, through tears we still sing,
You left us with colors, with hope on your wings.
For God holds your hands now, in His gentle embrace,
And we see you in rainbows, in Joy’s smiling face.
Chorus
Verse 4
So we’ll carry your colors, your love we will share,
With every brushstroke, you’ll always be there.
A promise of joy, a world you made new,
Forever, dear artist, we’ll remember you.
Colors of Heaven: A Song of Hope and Healing
Colors of Heaven by Lisa Caprelli is a song created with scripture at its heart, designed to reinforce a powerful message of hope, healing, and the eternal joy found in God’s promises. The imagery within the song—unicorns dancing, rainbows, butterflies, and Joy’s tender face—serves as a reminder of the beauty of embracing God’s promises with childlike faith.
Lisa’s intention was to craft lyrics that resonate with the young and young-at-heart, capturing the wonder, trust, and belief in God’s eternal love. The themes of Colors of Heaven—healing, hope, eternal love, and the beauty of heaven—align with several scriptures, offering a spiritual foundation for its uplifting message.
Scriptural Inspiration
Verse 1:
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” – James 1:17
This scripture reflects the beauty and creativity expressed in the song and reminds us that all good things, including artistic expression, are gifts from God.
Chorus:
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
The chorus beautifully encapsulates the promise of heaven—a place of eternal love, joy, and freedom from sorrow.
Verse 2:
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21
This verse serves as a reminder of the legacy of love and kindness that lives on in the hearts of those we touch.
Bridge:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
The bridge offers comfort to those grieving, emphasizing God’s gentle embrace during times of loss.
Outro:
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
The song’s outro reflects a call to carry forward the light of love and faith, honoring God through acts of kindness and inspiration.
The Power of Childlike Faith
The theme of childlike faith is woven beautifully throughout the song. Its simplicity, wonder, and joy celebrate the qualities often associated with a child’s pure and trusting perspective of God and His creation.
Supporting Scriptures:
Mark 10:15 “Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
This verse reflects the song’s celebration of joy, hope, and imagination—hallmarks of childlike faith and trust in God.
Matthew 19:14 “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
The joyful imagery of heaven, rainbows, and unicorns mirrors the openness and innocence described in this scripture.
Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
This verse speaks to the delight and awe captured in the song, encouraging us to see God’s goodness with the wide-eyed wonder of a child.
Colors of Heaven is not just a song—it is a message of hope and healing for all who listen. Its scriptural foundation and heartfelt imagery inspire listeners to find comfort in God’s promises and to view the world with childlike faith, wonder, and love.
